                           Born 26th December 1886. Educated at Winchester & New College, Oxford.
                           At outbreak of war he was Deputy Director of Education for Nottinghamshire County Council.
                           Enlisted in Sherwood Foresters. Served at Gallipoli in 9th Battalion.
                           Promoted major & in March 1916 awarded DSO. Served in France.
                           Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel October 1916. November 1917 Promoted
                           to Brigadier General.
                           After the war he was Director of Education at Lancashire.
                           He was Warden of Winchester, dying on 14th January 1963.
